You can all stop holding your breath. I´ve finally decided to go by bus to Rio. Will this be the most dangerous route I could take? It´s safe to say yes. However, I will not only save a bunch of money by bussing it, but I will get to see a the land of a country that I don´t plan to visit outside of the 2 weeks surrounding New Year´s. All in all, I think it is a win/win situation for me on this one, assuming I don´t get robbed, killed, or robkilled, a new way of being both robbed and killed simultaneously that I just made up.
The plan, you ask? Here she is:
- Travel to Iguazu on Dec 27th. Visit the Brazil side (just to make sure my Visa ´works´)
- Travel from Iguazu to Rio on Dec. 28th. Arrive at the hotel with Tom, and purchase speedos.
- Jan. 2nd ish, head up to Buzios, this awesome posh little beach town that seems to be like The OC for Rio and the surrounding areas.
- Jan 7 or 8, grab a bus back to iguazu, check out the Argentinian side. I´ve asked around, and everyone has a different opinion on which side is best. I don´t really care much for waterfalls, so we´ll see if this sucker changes my mind.
- Jan 9 or 10, return to Buenos Aires to my new apt. in San Telmo.
- Jan 10 till February, study spanish at UBA, live with darius in some posh digs in San Telmo, eat steak for $3, entertain visiting friends and maybe even my moms.
- February 20ish, hire a flight to Ushuaia, and start adventuring.
Mark your calendars!
