After I left the locutorio, or internet cafe, last night, Carlos Mesa pulled a quick one on me and the rest of Bolivia - he resigned... again.
The best web analysis, as usual, is done by Jim from the Democracy center.

He's living in Cochabamba, and reporting as the situiation unfolds before him in his front yard. There really is no substitute for that kind of news - I know it myself well.
Mesa, as you can clearly tell from the broadcasts, is honest about this resignation. By losing him, Bolivia lost its only asset in the war against its own poverty - now it is up to radical leaders and coca growers, seen as drug dealers by the internetaional community, to run the country.
Unless a military government does step in, which is sill likely, things could get even worse for Bolivia in the next period of time. I'm just glad to say that I'm done travelling through there for the time being.
Oh, and as for the government of that country at this very moment - it is virtually non-existent. The Congress will convene today around noon-ish to decide the fate of the country, till then, have fun looting and pillaging.
Oh, and good luck Jim and everyone on the ground in Bolivia. Watch your backs, and board up your open windows...
