Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, especially to me. Travellers sickness, aka the uncontrollable butt-squirts combined with a high fever and chills, is going to put quite a damper on my weekend.
I did get stomach sick for a while in Argentina, but this time makes that one seem like a walk in the park. Yesterday, I slept for 18 hours, barely able to move myself to the bathroom. It's pretty bad, but it makes for a good story.
I would say, without too much doubt, that I picked this friendly bug up in the Children's home I visited on Tuesday. They invited me for dinner, and since the two officials who run the place and my Dutch volunteer friend where eating, I went for it. What I was served looked to me like a meat loaf of sorts, but Liz later informed me that it was most likely loaf a la lentils and liver.
It's just like me to scarf down day old liver loaf at the poorest children's home in Bolivia, isn't it? Well, I've finally paid the price. So stupid.
Now, I'm on a self-prescribed one week course of Cipro, the world's most bitchin antibiotic, which after only one pill seems to have helped immensely (hence the website posting). I'm just lucky that Liz and I paid the extra $0.60 a day each to get the nicer hostal and room, which has a clean bathroom in the room and cable tv. I've got roughly 65 channels. I watched Top Gun, and The OC.
There are definitely worse conditions to get sick in...
Must you refer to "butt-squirts"? Por fa!
