Obviously, the state TV in Venezuela is all about paying homage to Castro right now. I just watched the parliamentary leader (Nicky Maduro) give props to fidel and diss the Florida celebration posse hard. Sorry for the dated 90's slang.
Anyway, MSNBC is running two stories right now back to back according to my pc: Castro is bleeding internally, and Bush passed his presidential physical and is in perfect health. Man, they have no shame. I mean, Castro is 80 - do we really need to juxtapose those stories to make ourselves feel better about our own meandering leader?
A bird in the beard is worth two in the bush.

Showing some surprisingly good timing, last week's issue of the New Yorker published a piece about potential successors (plural) for Fidel, including perspectives from Cubans both on the island and exiled. It's written by Jon Lee Anderson, who wrote the seminal (and giant) bio about Che a while back. Interesting stuff - and so apt!
If you're interested, check out Newyorker.com - it's a featured article. Of course, any members returning shortly from Venezuela are welcome to borrow the magazine, which is currently sitting on their floor.
